Sara

Our circle had a new member now. It wasn’t the air steward Paul, but Sara, a woman I had known for years. She was in my teaching group at one of the seminars I run twice a year in Eastbourne for the Spiritualist Association of Great Britain. Sara had been attending these seminars as long as I had been taking them. We had built up a friendship over the years and because she was quite advanced, she always sat in my group, because it featured trance mediumship.

I like to know that I have a connection with the people I have in my circle and that we are all of the same understanding of what the circle is about. So, during one of the sessions at Eastbourne, whilst Sara was sitting in the silence with all the other students in the group and I could sense that her guide was linked with her, I formed a question in my mind and sent it telepathically to her guide, asking if they could move her hands. Within a second, both of Sara’s hands lifted from her lap and just floated in mid-air.

Then I asked if the guide could make her stand up and walk to the middle of the room, which again happened as soon as the thought went out. All of this was happening while her eyes were closed. She was being controlled by the spirit guide who worked with her. Her body was turned to face me and her head was bowed.

It was amazing to watch this. I was the only person in the room with their eyes open and I was communicating with her spirit guide by silent thought – something I had learned over the years of sitting in circle.

I asked, again in silence, if Sara could link and work with any other student in the group. She turned and headed in the direction of Steven, who was also in a trance state and whose guide was linked to him.

It was no surprise to me when Steven’s hands lifted and stretched forward. His fingertips connected with Sara’s for a moment before her spirit guide took her back to her seat and sat her down. She was connected enough to let go and follow the impressions from her guide without question.

I knew at that moment she was our new sitter.

Sara had no idea that I had asked all of this, but when I asked her whether she would join our circle, she accepted immediately. She had been asking her guide to lead her to a new circle because she felt she needed to go deeper and let go more.

It all felt right. She joined us in the next session and it felt as though she had been there forever.

Not so for our air steward, though. Steven had misplaced Paul’s details and we had no real way of getting in touch with him. Funny, because I really had a very strong feeling about him and it didn’t sit with me that this was the end of it.
